The description
One paragraph stating what the consumer will receive and how often.
Compliance
We review the use case, the opt-in experience, the disclosures and the operating controls before a program is activated, and monitor it afterwards.
Before a program is switched on we need to know who is sending, why, what the messages will say, roughly how many there will be, and exactly how the consumer agreed to receive them. Assembling that afterwards, under pressure from a carrier, is where most programs come apart.
Consent language states what the consumer will receive and from whom. It is captured per program, boxes are never pre-ticked, and consent is never made a condition of obtaining something else. A program that wants to add a message category asks for consent again.
Approved experiences carry sender identification, message frequency language, message and data rate disclosures, links to the terms and the privacy policy, and clear instructions for stopping.
STOP and its equivalents are honored immediately and confirmed once, and that confirmation is the last message sent. HELP returns the sender name and a route to a person rather than an automated reply.
Opt-out rates, complaints, delivery feedback, source quality and partner adherence are reviewed weekly. A program can be paused on a trend rather than at a threshold, which is the point of reviewing it at all.
This describes how we operate and is not legal advice. Advertisers and partners are responsible for obtaining advice for their own programs and jurisdictions.
Before activation
None of these are difficult to produce. They are simply easier to skip, which is where most problems start.
One paragraph stating what the consumer will receive and how often.
A capture of the consent experience exactly as the consumer sees it.
The actual messages, in order, with intervals, reviewed by someone who did not write them.
Who can pause the program, how quickly, and how they are reached.
